Chair progress
Today I have been mostly sewing a "line drawing" of the chairs. Takes a lot more thread than I bought, and a lot longer than I anticipated ... This is gonna take some time me thinks!

I found your blog via Mark's blog as well and was quite surprised to see your work. I had no idea. It's fabulous. I really like your sketches - much personality. And I am rooting for you finding, completing, excelling in your coursework. I will be watching you too. And thanks for the comment, I really appreciate the support.
This looks like a tough project, but it'll be great when done.
Why?
Actually two things happened when I tried to post a comment containing just the question above:
1) It didn't work, I have to type the wobbly alphabet thing again.
2) I'm listening to Ian Dury and the Blockheads and I suddenly heard him screaming in my ear:
"Don't ask!, Don't ask, Don't ask!"
But....
why sewing?
Why? Several reasons actually - its something I've been meaning to try for a while now. I've noticed myself really liking this kind of "drawing via embroidery" whenever I've come across it. I want to try drawing with different materials - and thread is fairly easy access. I love the fact that you get a texture, and a lovely warm fuzzy one at that. Its still quite flat and 2D - but you can feel it. And lastly it leant itself to the project as its about Sunshine's grandparents' chairs - old, with history, handcrafted - all the kinds of things I also associate with embroidery ... answer your question?
You must have a lot of patience! It sounds like an interesting project, though, and good to be working on a large scale.
I like your little sketches on diary pages.
