Sailing into Bristol
I drew this boat last Wednesday in Bristol when I went for my interview. The illustration studios are on the fourth floor of Bush House, which also houses the Arnolfini Gallery, and faces the river with lots of lovely boats. It was a gorgeous day and the sun was out and I thought about how lovely it would be to live there ...
Well, this morning I got my offer from UWE - looks like I'm going to Bristol!!!
Hooray! :)

Yeah! Way to go! Very excited for you.
Hurray! Well done you!
Wonderful news, Mithi!
congrats! great news!
Well done Mithi! I am so pleased and happy for you. Oh, and that's a lovely boat - will have to remember to show it to husband this evening, he's a boat freak! ;-)
Just to say, Mithi, that I'm a regular reader of your blog like Maggie and really enjoy hearing about your experience of forging a new career in art. I did the same thing --- went on Foundation at age 24 and started my degree at 29. Long time ago now, but your story still brings back many happy memories. Well done on acceptance at UWE. Enjoy !
What a pretty boat, you did a great job with all those lines! I imagine a sailboat would be a bit challenging! :) Oh, and Congrats re UWE! :)
Oh,! Congratulations. I'm so pleased for you - you must be so excited
Mithi - May I add my congratulations and just a tad of envy. I would love to be setting out on such an adventure. I do hope you take us along for the whole journey.
thanks for the comments! The Oriental Supermarket is near Ikea at Eastville, just off the M32 and near Tesco as well- it's only just opened actually. There's a couple of other good Chinese supermarkets in Bristol so you should be ok for food supplies! Here's the website of that one:

here shop will always have spaces for new staff, but i'm afraid it's all on a volunteer basis!
Hi!
I couldn't help notice that someone was talking about Wai Yee Hong in Bristol. That's my parent's shop! I'm not sure if they are hiring right now - you are best just wandering in and asking, to be honest.
They don't have any up on the website, but often they are gone before they make it on there.
But what I would say is that work is by no means on a voluntary basis - we have to pay our staff, otherwise we'd have none!
I hope that you enjoy Bristol - it's a great place!
